Job Description:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Project Manager is responsible for the leadership of industrial construction projects ($10M - $50M) and acting as the primary client liaison.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating internal and external project communications;
  • Managing the project construction team and administration;
  • Project planning and leadership;
  • Overseeing the following areas:
    • Project Controls;
    • Workface Planning;
    • Estimating;
    • Quality Assurance and Quality Control;
    • Health, Safety & Environmental;
    • Project procurement, subcontracts, and materials management;
    • Managing project Labour Relations and Human Resources (with support from home office).
  • Coordinating internal and external project communications;
  • Managing the project construction team and administration

An ideal candidate also displays:

Experience:

5-10 years of EPC and/or construction project management experience with a recognized reputation of excellence within the refinery, petrochemical, and/or heavy oil industries.



Additional Information:

Past experience interfacing with engineering firms on development of construction deliverables is an asset.

This project is currently on 10-hour work shifts in various 14/7 cross-shifts and includes a night shift.  Canonbie will provide travel between project site and hub cities (Edmonton and Calgary) and camp accommodations.  Travel allowance is paid out (amount based on province).

General Superintendent

Job Description:

Reporting to the Project Manager, the General Superintendent is responsible for all field aspects of the project such as safety, quality, budget, schedule and general performance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring safety compliance through line management;
  • Timely scheduling, coordination and effective cost control as they pertain to labour, equipment and materials on the project;
  • Liasing with the client and labour relations;
  • Construction procedures, including safe work practices and job safety analysis;
  • Directing subcontractor coordination and progress;
  • Assisting in the development of the project plan and schedule;
  • Executing the project plan and schedule;
  • Mentoring, coaching and supervising the field supervision;
  • Ensuring all field labour and construction equipment costs fall within the project budget;
  • Ensuring compliance with the Project Quality Plan; and
  • Selecting and maintaining equipment.


Educational Requirements:

Discipline Superintendents

Job Description:

Reporting to the General Superintendent, the Discipline Superintendent directs the discipline segment of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be familiar with the intended scope of work, schedule and manpower requirements;
  • Take an integral part in site mobilization and organize site amenities where required;
  • Ensure safety compliance through line management and act as a safety role model;
  • Set up required field-level meetings (Tool Box Talks, daily coordination meetings, critical lift meetings, etc.);
  • Support and utilize Workface Planning through standardized Canonbie in-house programs (three-week look ahead);
  • Attend any meetings required by management;
  • Liase between workers and subcontractors;
  • Upon construction completion, organize and facilitate demobilization of equipment, personnel and excess material; and
  • Assure and assist with turnover documentation.

Electrical Inspector

EHS Administrative Assistant

Job Description:

Reporting to the Corporate Loss Control Manager, the administrative assistant will be responsible for providing intermediate to advanced level administration support to the Environment Health & Safety departments’ activities. Based out of the corporate office, the administrative assistant will also liaise with other members of the department located at different sites.

Assist in the administration and further development of EHS Policy, Manuals, Standards, Procedures, and Safe Work Practices within the Document management & File System;

Compilation of Loss Management reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly) including archiving relevant data;

Coordination of the Behavioural Based Recognition Program, company-wide

Assist in EHS Project Plan development;

Strong emphasis on creation and management of communications, including databases, proposals, presentations, training materials and reports;

Assist in developing field communication for Loss Management requirements



Educational Requirements:

A Grade 12 Diploma, supplemented by additional education or training relevant to an administrative role

Project Quality Control Coordinator

Job Description:

Reporting to the Project Quality Supervisor, the Project Quality Control Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the QA/QC Program on the project.

The role of Quality Control professionals is to be knowledgeable in all areas of the construction projects. Responsible to both the customer and company, they become a valuable resource to the project from conception through completion.

Work with Internal soft wear program for tracking daily welding reports, audit the information before entering into tracking soft wear. Update both piping isometric and as-built drawings on a daily bases.

Coordinate/track all the NDE requirements for the project and communicate with the NDE company and Inspectors with the NDE percentages, weld repair rate, audit NDE reports. perform NDE clearance for hydro testing, generate AB 83s.

Monitor and Control Welder Qualification Records, Welders Identification symbols.

Coordinate inspection scheduling (company, client inspectors and third party).

Assist with Project Quality Orientation and tracking of the personnel orientations.

Coordinate QC Files and Logs (CSR, NCRs, CARs, etc)

Assist/Coordinate project internal audits, set up, notification, agenda, report documentation, tracking of audit findings, closing of audits, filing and retrieval.

Assist with tracking manpower hours from time sheets to manpower tracking spreadsheets

Technical Education in the field of Mechanical would be an asset (WET, MET, CET)

Civil Quality Control Inspector

Reporting to the Project Quality Supervisor, the Civil Quality Control Inspector will be responsible for managing all aspects of the QA/QC Program on the project.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Read alignment tools, both electronic and manual;
  • Ensuring that tolerances are within client specification;
  • Concrete pours testing with 3rd party testing company;
  • Pile driving locations and CWB welding of the caps;
  • Reporting the Welders to the Monthly CWB report to the Welding Supervisor;
  • Verify the welders certificates and verify the correct welding procedure to be use;
  • Confirming installation procedures and documenting as required;
  • Documenting equipment preservation;
  • Paint inspections;
  • Load release;
  • Maintaining current proof of vision requirements;


Educational Requirements:

Civil Engeer or Technologist with minimum of 5 years experience



Credentials/ Safety Requirements:

  • Demonstrated computer software proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite;
